Services

Five services, and how to pick the one your season needs first

A trades business in Simcoe County lives by the calendar. The phone rings off the hook in May when cottages open, again in October when they close, and then the furnace calls arrive with the first hard frost. In between there are weeks where the crew is idle and the ad budget is still running. Barrie.Marketing exists to make that year less lumpy: to plan marketing month by month, town by town, so your spend follows real demand and your quiet months get filled in advance.

We are a marketing and business consulting service, not a contractor. We don't install, repair or service anything. We help the people who do.

Why Simcoe County is not one market

Barrie is the anchor, but it is only part of the picture. The City of Barrie had 147,829 residents in the 2021 Census, and it sits beside a county of 16 member municipalities that behave in very different ways.

Roughly, the region splits into three kinds of market:

  • Commuter growth towns such as Bradford, Innisfil and Alliston, where year-round families in newer subdivisions want fast, local service.
  • The City of Barrie itself, with older neighbourhoods near Kempenfelt Bay, big newer areas in the south end, and a growing set of commercial corridors.
  • Shoreline and cottage country along Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay and the lakes north of Orillia, where a large share of owners are part-year residents and demand swings hard with the seasons.

A single "Barrie" campaign mixes all three, and it usually wastes money in at least one of them. The areas page walks through every municipality and what changes from one to the next.

The seasonal problem, in numbers you can check

Seasonality hurts most when it's ignored. Here is a simple test using your own figures.

Suppose you spend $2,000 a month on ads, all year, and your crew can take about 40 jobs a month. In June you could book 70 if you had the people, so you turn 30 away. In February you can take 40 but only 15 come in. You've spent $24,000 across the year, but a large part of the June spend bought calls you couldn't answer, and the February spend was too small to fill the gap.

Now move the same $24,000 around: less in the weeks you're already full, more in the shoulder months, and some of it on reminding last summer's customers about fall closings and winter maintenance. The total doesn't change. The number of jobs you can actually do with it usually does. That is the core of our seasonal campaign planning.

What we do for Barrie and Simcoe trades

We keep the menu short, because most owners need a few things done well rather than a long list done halfway.

Working with a budget that covers one or two to begin? The services overview sets out which to pick first.

The proof we can show you

Every case study we publish comes out of our HVAC work, the trade where this group first built its portfolio. Heating is one of the most seasonal trades there is, so the lessons travel well. BCWide.ca tripled its leads in 90 days, and GasBoilers.ca, a gas-boiler division built for CANRO Heat, serves 26+ BC communities from one well-organised site, which is close to the shape of a business covering several Simcoe towns.

We don't relabel those as plumbing, roofing or septic results. The results page explains what each one shows and what a Simcoe County trade can fairly take from it.

Who is behind Barrie.Marketing

Barrie.Marketing is part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies. We are Canadian and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we serve trades across Barrie and Simcoe County from there. The work is led by Ali Sedighi, MBA in Technology Management, who has more than 17 years in digital marketing and has built 150+ live HVAC websites. Our parent brand for trades is Trades.Agency.

You can read more about how we work on the about page, see plans on the pricing page, or skip ahead to the contact page. The first 30-minute conversation is free for eligible trades businesses, and plans are month to month.

How it works

  1. Send us last year's calendar

Your jobs by month and by town, your average ticket and roughly how many calls you missed in peak weeks. That shows us where your year is lumpy and where the money leaks.

  2. Agree a twelve-month plan

We set out which months to push, which to hold, which towns to target and what each month should cost, in writing, before anything is switched on.

  3. Talk to someone who has read it

No call centre and no hand-off to a junior rep. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Frequently asked questions

What is Barrie.Marketing?

It's a Canadian marketing and advisory brand for Simcoe County contractors and home-service owners, Barrie included. The Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group owns it from its Vancouver, BC head office, with Ali Sedighi, MBA, in charge.

Do you do any of the trade work yourselves?

No. We are not a contractor and we don't install, repair or service anything, and we don't resell leads to competing companies. We plan and run marketing for your business and advise you on how to grow it.

My business is busy in summer and dead in January. Can marketing fix that?

It can flatten the curve, not erase it. Most of the gain comes from selling off-season work in advance, such as fall closings booked in August or furnace tune-ups sold to summer customers, and from cutting wasted spend in weeks when you can't take more jobs.

How do you reach cottage owners who don't live here?

Through search ads that target people interested in Simcoe locations rather than only people physically in them, through pages written for absentee owners, and through your own customer list. A lot of the people searching for a Wasaga Beach or Tiny contractor are at home in the GTA when they search.

What does it cost?

Plans start at $1,999 a month with no contract, dropping to $1,499 if you commit to a year, and 13% HST is added. Ad spend is paid separately to the platform. Eligible trades businesses get a free 30-minute first consultation.

Your office is in Vancouver. Is that a problem for a Simcoe County business?

Not in practice. The work happens in your Google profile, your ad accounts and your website, and we check every recommendation against what searchers in your towns actually see. You reach us by call, text or email and get a straight answer.
